my pink elephants hadn't done real well for me in the past, they were always small......but bright. then i had a dictoya algae outbreak in my tank and they got covered up in the algae (couldn't even see them).

so i placed the frag in my mantis tank, which is dimly lit with a PC light. there is a crab in there that will eat the algae.....but is NOT reef safe.

after about 5 months in quarantine......they are back in my display tank....even though they have a bit of coloring up to do.

Awesome!!! Glad they made it. Has the algae int he main tank been dying back? Did you find something to kill it?

its completely gone as far as i can tell (knock on wood).

i limited feedings like CRAZY, and basically starved my tank. my purple tang eventually would start to nip at it in small amounts.....but over time it did the trick along with an army of emerald crabs.

my feedings went something like 1 cube of frozen food per week, and some flake food once every 2 or 3 days.

That's good to hear. I'm glad it's gone. I ended up drying out all of the rock for a few months. :(

i was about to put a small naso in there, but by the time i was ready for one.....and by the time Atlantis finally got one in.....it was 90% gone.

so instead i thought about getting 1 more bristle tooth tang.

but i ended up with a tiny baby hippo tang......but if he doesn't survive i'll probably get a small tomini or scopas tang to put in there as another grazer to keep it in check if it ever comes back.

I just like the way it looks. It's also less common. Just my preference, that's all.

Kole's are nice, but you should get the blue eyed version. It's yellow with blue rings around it's eyes. harder to get, but looks pretty cool. I have a thing for uncommon stuff after being around a couple friends in my area.

Good to hear Al.....I never had luck with those or crazy daisies......I like the scopus as the one I had ate everything algae wise. They are a little more aggressive though......
