PINK FUSION IN A BOTTLE FROM ARC!!!

So I got a bottle today. Pink type. I saw a thread about this from 2018 and wanted to get a newer look at what reefers are thinking about this product. Also the parameters needed for it. Right now I have dk 8.7 ph 8.3 temp 80 ammonia 0 trites 0 trates 2.5 phos 0 calcium 490ish SG 1.026 always using RODI WITH 1ppm.(can anyone tell me if 1ppm is ok after coming out of RODI?

IMHO, if you are looking to get more coraline algae with this, I wish you luck and would suggest you may well be wasting your money. If you are looking to add beneficial bacteria, it may be OK. But that's just my opinion. Others may see it differently.

I tried the purple once and it didn’t work for me! I had 2 urchins in the tank that prob ate it! Do you have a deionizer as the last step in your ro unit? the h20 coming from my unit has 2ppm tds from the ro membrane but zero after the deionizer!

I used ARC purple helix and had coralline growth within three weeks. I don’t get why some people seem to think this stuff is snake oil. It’s basically just spores in a bottle; not that different from crushing up coralline from someone else’s tank and throwing it in your own.

There are some tank specs required for growth. One being 80 degrees, other being salinity 1.026. I am adjusting to those over the next few days. I was 78 and 1.025. Not much off. Need to take it slow for my crabs cuz they are not liking change much.

yes I have deionizer as last cartridge. Weird that Iget 1ppm I kinda wrote it off as just dust in the bucket.

How old is the di? It will depleat over time and need to be replaced. Mine changes color, not sure if they all do this.

Bought two bottles and basically od that in my 45 gallon and no growth at all Id say its snake oil because they post fake good reviews to keep it selling and sponsor reefers who do "questionable practice" on there honesty.
Over all it doesn't matter you bought it and it will probably do more good then harm

If it didn’t work for you, then it may have been your tank or some other variable like an expired bottle or poor shipping process. If the spores die off for some reason, then it wouldn’t work, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for others. Like I said, I got a bottle shipped overnight, followed the directions, kept my tank stable, and after three weeks or so I started seeing purple spots on my dry rock.

Stability is more important than perfection. It’s growing fine in my tank at 78 degrees. Best not to change things.

The purple helix has worked for me in 3 aquariums so far. I had coralline in one month of tank set up, no way other than it worked. Works quickly too ime, you need stability and light for it to work. People saying it doesn’t work don’t have the requirements for it to work

It's a whole bunch of people with poor tank condition complaining.


We have two 40g tanks right now - my wife's runs about .6ppm phosphate and only has the return pump. Mine runs like .04 and has the same return, two jebao ow-10s, and a reef breeders rp-m.

It got added to both tanks. Hers has very little coraline. Mine basically exploded.


It's not a miracle. But it works great if you give it proper conditions.

It gave me a case of hard green algae, my rocks were ugly for months. Coraline will enter your tank regardless whether you want it or not. It comes in on snails and frag plugs. No need to spend money on something that is going to happen. The hard green algae is somewhat common. I found this out after researching the forums after my rocks turned green. Many people claim it's green coraline which it isn't. I'll never use it again.

It’s newish (2 months) the problem may be that when I started tank I used tap water with amquel. I’ve done 4-5 25% changes with RODI water. I’m doing a 25% change today. Oh and yes my di changes color too. Or it’s supposed to as it gets used. Still black now though.

It seems like the same results (or better) would be to throw a couple snails or frag plugs with coraline in.
If anything you aren’t waiting for the spores to take hold and grow I would think.

No, it's not the same results. It's months slower.


Coraline on a snail shell has to send out spores to grow. Arc does the same thing - just at way higher volume.

It basically takes a month or two out of the wait for a dry rock tank to mature. You have to add pounds of live rock to get the same rate of coraline spores in the tank .


And $22 to skip forward a month or two in a dry rock tank is a no-brainer.

The main complication is that people put it in new tanks and then get told they don't need to maintain alkalinity until they have corals - which is nonsense. Coraline needs it - and many cycle processes and algae will consume alkalinity.

I have crusted green algae. Like spots on the glass that are hard when you run fingers over it. So I think I just need to add the pink or purple strains? The green is different than that slimy stuff I had after cycle. That stuff was yucky. But that’s mostly gone now.
