I recently picked up a frag of tyree pink lemonade at our local swap meet. I mounted it up pretty high in the tank and it has great p/e but isnt getting any green color. I was wondering if maybe I am hitting it with too much light? I also have a rasberry lemonade that isnt getting any green color either. The rasberry isnt as high up as the pink. Any ideas?
thanks
Jeff

I have two different colonies of pink lemonade, one super high and other not so high. The lower one is more green where as the higher one is super bright yellow.

It's a very high light demanding coral, so that's not likely it.

What parameters do you maintain the tank at?

My colony is up very high and also is yellow in color, no green. So if you want green try giving it less light maybe?

It's supposed to be yellow. :) It's not pink limeade!

If it's green instead, then it's usually not getting enough light.

But I was thinking the OP was implying his is simply lacking all color.

Just curious as to why you would want it to turn green? It seems so much nicer when its bright yellow with pink polyps. My colony turns green when I dose Lugols or an Iodine supplement. Generally, when a true yellow coral turns green it can be do to higher levels of Iodine, Iron is another possibility. When I stopped dosing Lugols my colony turned yellow and lost most of the green tint.

I actually got looking at the coral closely tonight and I am seeing some yellow on the base but actually most of the coral is a pinkish brown with not really any noticeable color difference between the polyps and the skin of the coral. I have only had the coral maybe a month or two so maybe I need to just let it settle in. It actually didnt have much color contrast even when I first got it. I actually didnt realize it was suppose to be yellow (duh). I have had the raspberry lemonade for some time and it is one of those corals that is just sitting dormant, not much color or growth. I added a cali tort and hawkins at the same time and their colors are fantastic.
thanks for the advise
Jeff

That is kindof what I have been thinking. I was looking top down tonight and I am able to see some yellow starting to come out. I think I am just being impatient with it. Seems as if sps can lose their color overnight but takes forever to get it back.
