Hey guys.

I have two corals that as they color up, i'm doubting the IDs I was given when I purchased them. I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me a little on the proper ID for these. Sorry for the overly blue pictures. I can't get them not to look blue.

First is what was sold to me as a "Pink Prostrata". It was brown, it was cheap, the guy said they didn't have enough light for it, but it would be "no bs, pink". I like pink. I'll bite. When I got it, it was brown with brown polyps. Now it's baby pink with light green tips and brown polyps. :ooh:

The second is what was sold to me as a yellow tort but it's not looking like any ywllow tort I can find. It's not got a greenish base, extending to yellow then extending to blue/purpleish. I'm confused.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to know what's in my tank! :)

Cali looks a lot closer than yellow xD the colors still aren't as vibrant though. Maybe it's just not colored. It came out of the same tank as the prostrata so maybe it's a bit bland....

Both corals are Acroporas as you already know. The first one is likely millepora, but it can possibly be a prostrata. It will grow in a table shape. The coloration will depend on lots of factors. Most of them have brown polyps. The second coral is very likely an austera, it's also a tabling coral. Just give them time to grow and enjoy. Once they are a colony they can be properly ID'd.

As for common names, that's entirely up to the person who sold them to you. If you don't like them then change them. That's what everyone else does. :D

Good luck with them.
