Pink streaked wrasse and hermit crabs?

I want to get a pink streaked wrasse for my 45g AIO. I know they sleep in mucus cocoons and as such are vulnerable to predatory inverts or really anything. I have about 8 hermit crabs in the tank that are pretty active, so would they be a problem for the wrasse?

I currently have one in my Biocube with a few hermits and it hasn’t been a problem for me. I really doubt it could be a problem unless the wrasse is sick or the hermits are huge?

Okay, thats what I thought. I may take some out just to be safe but how have you liked it so far?

So in QT it basically hid for the entire 4 weeks and at first I was super disappointed, but after introducing it to my tank 2 weeks ago it chose a cave and has been slowing coming out more and is a ravenous eater. I personally love it and those huge orange eyes staring at me is hilarious. Also it has a super cool pattern and I would definitely recommend it.

Haha that sounds like it has a great personality and I’m excited to get my own! Just out of curiosity where did you get yours from?

I think I was lucky to find mine I looked online and everything was out of stock but my LFS got a shipment in and they had a couple so I snagged one.

Well I’m hoping for the best then with my lfs. I didn’t see any today but I will order it or ask them to, thanks for the help!

That's what I thought, I also meant if the hermit crabs would attack the wrasse as it sleeps

Only if it's already dying.

So it should be no worry then. They just pick at everything so I didn't know if a sleeping wrasse would be a target of this as well

I'd be more worried about the wrasse attacking a hermit. (No worries, that is unlikely as well)

I was never able to find where mine slept at night, and also never found a cocoon. I hear that they eat them after they wake up in the morning.

That's great to hear. I thought they might eat it but what a weird creature;Wideyed

I hope to catch mine in its cocoon but I guess we will have to see!

I've had my PSW for almost two years. They avoid all conflict with any creature. They are cryptic but when they get comfortable, they zip all over the tank.

They are rather drab looking when young but color up quite nicely when the reach adulthood.
