Every pink tail trigger I've know has been shy and even somewhat wimpy. I've had him now for over 1.5 years and to my surprise he was the boss of the tank, sometimes even bullying. I forgot to close the top one night and found my male bluejaw on the floor the next day, I know the pinktail chased him out. Then well over a month now he just went into hiding. Every glimpse I can get of him he looks healthy enough, still the largest fish in the tank. I see no one paying him any mind much less stalking or harassing him. So question is: has anyone ever seen such a dramatic change in a fish' personality without any obvious signs.

What's in the tank with the pink tail? With a blue jaw in the tank it had a closely related rival that 'demande' the pink tail's attention. Now the social dynamics have changed.

I have also seen a change like that when they have a 'close call', such as jumping and hitting a glass top or brace, when a curious fish tried to eat glue when gluing coral, when a fish tried to eat a large bristleworm and got the worst of the situation.

There's a pair of bluejaw's, 2nd husband; harlequin tusk, majestic angel, yellow belly dogface puffer, and an orange shoulder tang. So not really an overly aggressive mix in 210g. My 1st thoughts were that someone got tired of the pink tail's bullying and whipped his butt. I thought he'd pout a bit and then come back out. Like I said I see no one stalking him or really paying him any mind. I thought he could have injured himself and was just hiding to heal. Physically he looks all good and is still fat as ever, so he's still getting food.

I've never had a fish pout this long, even when I've seen them get the holy cr** beat out of them. Especially a trigger, usually right back out there going "is that all you've got".

I've had a very similar thing happen with a Sargassum trigger. He ran the tank and ate like a horse, then one day just started hiding. He still came out to eat but would go hide after. He did this for a few weeks then died. No new fish or anything was added, he just started acting strange. I had him for about a year and a half. Hope you can figure out what's going on.

Is ur trigger okay I’ve been wondering for so long what happened after 3 years

Saw your post. I have made updated threads, he ended up being blind and I stick fed him for almost 1.5 years until he retreated and died. Funny thing is I have another blind trigger now, I have concluded(at least in my individual experiences) that copper exposure has caused blindness in these 2 triggers. These 2 fish came from the same source but lived in 2 different systems in my house.
