Pink water...

So I went a little crazy and scraped all the Coraline off my back wall. Tank is 3 years old and I got tired of the pink background. I didn't think much of it as I was going but now my water is pink. Does anyone see any issue with that? There's still bits of coralline floating around after about 30 min, nothing looks upset but want to run it by the group

It will be fine.
I used to do that every so often.
I'm not a coraline algae fan on the glass.
I would scrape it all off and have pink water and coraline flakes everywhere.

Thanks, lights just went off, looks like the filter socks got most of it. I will say the flipper made that really easy.

When you would scrap it off would you get more growth on rest of the glass from all the spores? That's what I'm afraid of

Nope.
If you generally keep your glass clean, coraline algae has a harder time taking hold. That's why you see it mostly on back wall and corners ant very top and bottom of the tank.

Believe me, you will be fine as long as you do what I'm sure you've been doing.

It will only come back if your lazy like me. I alway tell myself that i'm gonna keep up on the back glass or acrylic. 20 years in the hobby, and wouldn't you know it. all my tanks are still covered in purple. grrrrr.

And lol, I told myself that after I cleaned it off. It's such a pain to do the back with all the light cords and the vortech pump, but it looks awesome, I hope I keep it up.

A Couple's days later I tested alk and there was a sharp drop. Dosing 20ml alk daily used to keep up with consumption (along with a 1g daily water change). My alk went from a steady 8.5 to 7.9 then 7.5. don't have many corals but either they started growing faster or a Coraline bloom is coming. I hope it's the coral. I dosed back to 8.5 and will have to adjust the daily dose. Maybe a short term thing?
