Any idea what would cause this? Happened suddenly. Pink wrasse is in qt with a long nose hawk and yellow prawn goby. No signs of aggression from any fish. Noticed Saturday his tail appeared to have a nip out of it and now it’s basically gone. Thanks.

Looks like it was bit off for sure. I’m not a fish disease guy, but can’t imagine a disease would take his entire tail overnight.

Sorry that happened.

WOW. Poor guy. What is his behavior like right now? Is he eating?

Any crabs in that tank?

Something bit him.
Looks like something tried to eat him.

No crabs, just a long nose hawkfish and yellow prawn goby In qt with it. No visible fish aggression. Any thoughts on chances for survival? I am doing the TTM method of qt and have my final transfer today. Then they move to a holding tank for a few weeks.
Thanks.

Looks like it is swimming upright/ok. No reason to think it won’t survive as ling as it didn’t get an infection in the process.

Number one priority is to prevent a possible bacterial infection. Neoplex, furan2, and kanaplex are all good options. Are you currently running any meds in your QT?

Goby bite. They aren't nice when territorial. @sfin52 what do you think?

Mine bit a fish in half. Mine was a pink spot watchman. But the yellow watchman has a big mouth as well. If it was bothering thr watchman it could have bit it.

Only med is prazipro. Can I dose kanaplex/ neoplex with prazipro?

I personally don't like mixing medications unless it's absolutely imperative. You can add but you need to make sure you have an extra power head aimed at surface for high flow. How is the little guy today?

+1 on the little guys well being
