Can someone explain what's going on with my pinpoint PH controller ? I was doing some cleaning and I moved the controller and I noticed some black sticky rap that looked like tar and upon investigation I realized it was the feet under my pH controller you can clearly see in the pic that two of them are melting ?

The odd thing is that the plastic underneath the rubber feet is fine and the unit itself is not hot or even warm ?

Placed on a lacquer finish? I had a plastic worm (Yamamoto Senko) literally melt a hole through the finish on our end table.

Is there a chemical reaction between the rubber and the floor finish ? I'm a little confused by your comment ?

Yea, plasticizer migration is a possibility.
