Just picked up a cute little "pinstripe melanarus" wrasse from the lfs. Got home and smacked my head. I have arag alive black substrate. It is not fine by any means. I have had fairy wrasses so was not even thinking about the wrasses that need sand. Anyone know if this will be an issue? She is doing great so far. Ate within minutes of being introduced. And exploring. But when bed time comes I do not want her to stress out.

Surprised she didnt bolt right into the sand when introduced. That may be a sign the the sand is not suitable. It does look a little too corse. Might want to mix some fine black sand into what you already have.

She seems super happy! I am suprised as well. Years back had yellow and green coris wrasses and did not see them for days after introducing. She is exploring every inch of the tank being followed by my clowns! Haha [emoji28]

Thats cool! My melanurus stayed under almost 36 hours. Love this genera of wrasse so much!

Well the white channel turned out at 9pm last night and she disappeared. So assuming she was able to get under the substrate. She came out this morning when the lights came on. So think she will be just fine!
