So.. My tank has fully cycled.. Albeit.. Barely.. But yes. Fully..
I ventured into a lfs and low and behold a pintail for a price you would never believe.. I promise.. You would never believe.. So good.. I couldn't pass it up.
Anyways, I purchased him and 2 banggai cardinals.. Harmful enough. Wrasse was out first day taking food. All great.

Well one of those bass turds turned into Satan himself.. Started nipping the other (not too big a deal atm) I'll return him when I have a chance..
I return home today to the wrasse at the surface gasping for air.. I murdered the cardinal and turned off the flow so he didn't have to work so hard.
He has since settled down.. Seems to have nestled somewhere in the rocks.. I just wanna know if he's gonna be ok. No visible damage.. Also the other cardinal will be fine too. Just tattered.

Any advice moving forward and coxing him out? Food hasnt worked the last two days as he's been hidden from the bully.
Other Than coral, this wrasse was the reason I wanted a reef... And I thought a cardinal would be failsafe...

Can you see where he's hiding? It's a bit unusual for him to stay hidden for several days with a bully no longer present. Can you get a picture of him by chance? Were they Qt'd? Current parameters? And the flow is currently back on, correct? If he was injured you'll want plenty of oxygen exchange.

From what I can tell No injuries. Flow is back on. There was never a lack of o2. I attributed his gasping to a runner radically respirating after a run. I can see his hiding spot. He does seem fine at the moment. Current parameters are no different than before.
Nh3= not measurable
No3< 10ppm
The spike in the apex is from the 20% water change I did.
I'm gonna give him a day to recoup and then try and feed again..
When should I start to worry.. I just need to be talked off the ledge. Lol
Apparently, this guy gets them all the time at this price.. That doesnt mean i dont value this guy.. I really hold sentiment to the creatures I care for.

I wouldn't panic yet, step away from the ledge lol They can be a bit timid... especially since he was chased around. I would squirt a little mysis right in front of his hidey-hole tomorrow and see if he will catch the pieces right in front of him. Mine hid in my filter in QT for a few days, and he was by himself at the time so no bullies lol

Seek help? I feel like you should probably evaluate a situation before you give advice.. Personally, I work in the medical field. I see the tag " Dr" must not be a true moniker.. Since assessment is a valued tool..
I placed the fish into a vessel and it parished, as the vessel was not prepared for it. I was ill prepared for the situation.
So again. Re evaluate your thoughts. I'll refrain from other thoughts.

Btw. Thank you I waited until this evening and squirted a little shrimp near his cave. And stepped back and waited.
I left my gyre on 10% just enough to keep the food afloat and he did poke his head out.
I'm hopeful! So he was interested!
I'm going to adhere to a one fish at a time rule for now on I think.. I thought i was safe with this combo. But apparently not.
Thanks again!
