Hello all, I have a 30 gallon (long) IM tank and I was hoping y’all would give some advice. Do you recommend a pintail or a crescent tail wrasse for my aquarium?

The Pintail gets a little big for your tank, but there are plenty of other options for a smaller tank size. Crescent tail fairy should be ok. I do think it helps that your tank is longer for swimming room, but I would look at maybe a Flasher Wrasse?Pygmy wrasses would also be a good choice. If the wrasses stay around 3” max that helps.

Thanks so much! I'll have to look into the flasher wrasses. It was my understanding the fairy wrasses were smaller

Yeah, some of the fairy wrasses can get pretty big. Flasher wrasses stay a bit smaller and the Pygmy wrasses are smaller yet. Pygmy wrasses are not just great nano fish, but wonderful with sps and coral pest control. As good as a six line without that awful aggressive nature...

As far as a fairy wrasse for that size tank you could probably get away with a lubbocks but that's probably about it . As jaxx said flashers are the better option , nothing wrong with a nice mccoskers !!

There are some stunning flashers - I love the fillamented flasher wrasse. I had a bad experience with a Mccoskers - ended up returning it because it was super aggressive to my other fish
