Pistol shrimp goby pair sizing

I have a yellow watchman that I have had about a year. I got a tiny pistol shrimp with him a year ago never saw the pistol shrimp again after putting him in. The goby is about two inches long I would guess.

Question: is it okay to get another small pistol? The LFS shrimp are really small. Do you need a bigger shrimp for an established goby? Thanks!

My two live about 12” from each other, never paired, and maintain their own dens, haha

If your pistol shrimp was still alive, I’m sure you would randomly hear its snap! I know I do!
