Some how I got a pistol shrimp as a hitch hiker in my tank. He loves eating crabs. Extremely loves them. Also loves peppermint shrimp also.

Should I stress trying to remove him or let him be?

I'm just worried about him eating my fish. And I'd have to remove over half my rocks and corals to get to his living quarters. I'm also tired of hearing the popping noise while I sleep. Haha.

Any suggestions / thoughts would be helpful so I can sleep at night. Thanks in advance!!!

Yeap. I've watched him plenty of times and have tried to catch him but just can't he's to fast.

That could be his twin.

If you want to remove the shrimp without tearing out live rock, try this bottle method first. It worth a shot, put some food in it and leave it next to the shrimps home overnight.

I've used these as yellow jacket bee traps in the pass, will have to give these a try as shrimp traps, thanks for that!

Always better to pair a pistol shrimp with a goby rather than have him causing havoc. When paired up, he probably will not eat your snails or crabs nearly as much since the goby will feed him and direct him to food. I have 2 in my tank 1 is paired with a cool pink spot goby. They live underneath my 16" green gig currently. Tunnels everywhere of course.

Thanks everyone.

Yeah I'll pair him up this weekend. I've got more tunnels under my rock then I have anything else I think.

Thanks again everyone

I have a tiger pistol and yellow watchmen goby. They have been in my 30 gallon for a year now. The pistol shrimp still eats all my snails and my peppermint shrimp also went missing a month ago. I love the guy and he's here to stay. Every couple months I stock up on snails for alga control. I'll try a peppermint again see what happens I only paid $12 for it last time. It's just their nature so I'm gonna role with it. Good luck trying the trap.

i have a pistol shrimp (candy cane ) i think they call it paired up with a yellow watchman goby...... probably my favorite thing to watch in my tank very interesting animals

My brother in law had same problem if it already has a killing streak it will probably kill the gobies as well his even killed his mandarin, I'd go with the trap and sump him shame really

I purchased one with a watchmen goby. They haven't paired and he's killed my blue dwarf angel. Not happy about it. Getting a med sized Potter's angle. Hopefully he won't mess with him.

I've got an ancient Randall's pistol shrimp and it never hurt anything. I'm assuming this is a larger, more aggressive shrimp, so I'd rehome him. You can also try keeping him well fed by target feeding.
