pistol shrimp killing YWG?

I just added a YWG to my 180 reef. I had a pistol shrimp hiding and living in my tank for a few years. I had thought the two would pair up...? When I added the YWG to the tank at night 4:00am... the YWG immeditiately went into the burrow where the pistol shrimp lives - I thought a match made in heaven. BUT immediately after I heard the pistol shrimp sounds from the tank.. and a day later I only can see the pistol shrimp no YWG?

Did the pistol shrimp attack and eat my YWG?

i cant imagine a pistol shrimp ate an entire YWG overnight. i would look around your tank more. there may be a body or the YWG is just scared crapless and hiding

I panicked once because my YWG didn't show up for breakfast. I took all the rock work out to search for him and couldn't find him. Long story short, he was hiding in a rock.

I was redoing my rock once and had pulled all of it out thinking all fish were still in tank. my algae blenny was in a rock out of the tank until rock went back in. little guy is still alive today hes an absolute trooper

What type of pistol shrimp? Some species (like the bullseye, red/japanese) do not pair with gobies.

The Goby rushing into the shrimp’s lair probably startled the shrimp, causing it to snap in defense — I mean, I‘d probably try to attack a surprise intruder in my home! Hopefully the goby is ok!
