Pistol Shrimp what do they eat

I have a pistol I got over a year ago with a goby. He hates the goby they never go near each other. Problem is I only see the pistol like once every 4 months. I just saw him now had not seen him since about June. I dont feed him directly so what do they eat? should I be trying to do something to feed him. Obviously he is still alive.

I imagine it would take meaty foods but I've never attempted to feed mine

I also have one that's paired with a orange spotted goby. He usually eats whatever food that floats by his entrance to his tunnels and when I'm target feeding coral I shoot some spirulina brine towards the entrance.
