I just added a Candy Pistol Shrimp to my tank with a Orange Spotted Goby. I'm looking for any information anyone would like to share about them He's about 1/2 a inch and not big at all.

Nice addition! I've never owned one but I here they're fun to watch.

I have one housed with my YWG. They have been doing great, and tend to stay in the same area so far. Here is a pic of my guys. Excuse the crappy cellphone pic.

I think my YWG got mad at him haha..that or the Pistol locked him out of his home. So my goby has been chilling over in a different spot for the past couple days. I always come to a conclusion that it is when the Pistol is molting. But just a theory. It happens every so often.

I definitely love it when they are together though. Pretty cool to watch.

Alright cool. I hoping they team up I heard they where a real cool pair and cool to watch he's digging is tunnels now just seen him throwing the sand out. Pretty nifty.

Bump What can I feed my pistol shrimp? Will he eat the frozen food will the goby help him with food? Any help would be great

I have a pistol hiding in my live rock. You can hear him bangin inside the rock and I can see him feeding but he NEVER comes out..

I have 2 of them and they share 5 different gobies. Some of their tunnels intersect each other and my tank is 6' long. I give them clams and worms like the rest of my fish eat, I just shoot a little near their tunnel.

Honestly I just squirt some food near his tunnel with the by the goby, usually he will pop out and grab some. But I feed him formula 1 pellet and the tank gets some brine/mysis once a week. I have had him for about 5 months and he has pretty much doubled in size. The Candy Pistols don't get too big (main reason I bought him)

Btw. Awesome pics Paul. Love the Randalls, once I get a bigger tank I will be getting a Yasha and a Randall

Mine eat almost anything. Pellets, flakes, frozen foods, algae, etc. Neither the shrimp nor the goby seem overly picky.
Be prepared for the shrimp to pretty much wreck the sandbed and any rocks not well anchored. My pair have attempted to rescape the entire tank over the past year or so.

I still love watching them work at it though.

I believe the Tiger Pistol is the one that will rearrange everything. The Candy Pistol doesn't do too much in my experience. But every Pistol Shrimp will probably be different in that manner. I have only had my pistol move twice and the sand build up/movement of rock was minimum if any. The worst he did was kick sand up on a ricordia that I had.

Okay Thank you all for the help. The Candy I have has not moved any rocks yet but he sure has done a number to my Sandbed. I have not seen him or the goby all day idk what they could be doing under there but it sure must be fun lol. I caught a glimpse of him dozing the sand last night that was pretty amazing seeing how he does it. This is my first saltwater tank so it was very cool to see. Now the sound they make what should I listen for? Pops? Clicking? I don't know what I should hear if anything. Are they tank friendly or will he attempt to make a meal out of my snails hermits etc he is the only shrimp in the tank. I did think I seen dead snail insides floating around the top of my tank today but can't be 100%.

I love how these critters don't care about stereotypes. My pistol tried a few different places in the first few days, but once he found his rock, he has been there for months/ever since. I have seen him come out at night (via infared webcam) and he flies around the tank. He will pop his head/claws out at feeding time most times to try and grab food. If I ever get a big piece of food that my fish can't eat, I stuff it down into his burrow for him. Funny story; A huge shrimp was in my mysis shrimp food, still in the shell. So I put it down into his burrow. Later when I check on the tank I see the shell floating around the tank XD I am putting in my randalls goby this weekend and I am so nervous/excited. Just hoping the goby doesn't become an expensive lunch.

See that mountain of gravel on the left side of my tank? One shrimp did that, and I have another one in the back of the tank that does the same thing.

Here's my Randall's, I've had him for 3+yrs! :) they will eat just about anything. Since he's without a fishmate at the moment I'm target feeding him. Otherwise the symbiotic relationship they have with their Goby's allows for the fish to actually feed them. The fish will catch the food and spit it into the waiting pinchers of the shrimp. How cool is that right?!

When I introduced pistol shrimp and gobie they were fiends in about 5 seconds. They moved around tank a couple of times now. Mine will catch food and I believe the goby also shares. I did notice some of the holes the pistol shrimp digs appear to be in prime spots for food float in during feeding time.

Mine sends out for Pizza, How cool is that?

You can see one in front and one in back of the gobi

Thank you everyone I love the pictures I cant get any because I cant find them...lol Do you guys think 2 would be to much for a 29g Biocube? I would love to get another to go with a YWG.

I think 2 would be to many and some watchmans get very large
