Did I finally find the source of my snapping? I'm not entirely convinced after looking closer and at other pictures of pistol shrimps.

This guy was creepy. I was staring at my tank with the lights off in the dark basement when I just noticed these swinging arms out of the corner of my eye (you can see them in the video below).

Lotsssss of pictures just in case one of them held the secret to a positive ID.

Not an expert, want to hear what @Lionfish Lair and others say. Following.

BUT IMO not a pistol shrimp (and not a mantis shrimp, either) it looks like it's filter feeding (the "arm waving") and pistol shrimp don't feed that way. Very interesting.

I agree, porcelain crabs feed that way. It doesn't look like a mantis or pistol

Yea, I didn't think it looked like a shrimp either after I noticed the eyes.

Awesome. Looks like they're reef safe. I think it came in one of my coral orders a long time ago. It as pretty beat up, but I threw it in the tank anyways, never to see it again. I thought it was an emerald crab when I put it in! As far as I was concerned, it wasn't a Gorilla so I was ok.
