So I finally got my MP10wES Vortech to compliment my MP40wES. The MP40 is currently my main source for flow in my tank. The MP10 was plugged in for a little bit but the flow coming from it was barely anything compared to the MP40 so I unplugged it. With both of them on, the MP10 would pulling a cyclone and suck in water from time to time creating bubbles (very annoying!) I have them both about 4-5" below the waterline, the MP40 has no problems at all. They are sitting opposite from each other, the MP40 towards the front of the tank and the MP10 to the rear. I thought it would be great as both pumps will be able to cover both sides, no dead spots. I was wrong!
A few things I've realized:
1) I set them up using the MP40 as the master and the MP10 as the slave. Much less power to the MP10, so I was thinking set the MP10 as the master and the MP40 as the slave. The MP40 now is at 1/3 power so if I were to set the MP10 as the master @80-100% the MP40 should or could run at 25% as it's in slave mode.
2) The MP40 is on the same side as the overflow (left side of the tank.) I could switch it to the other side and have the flow moving towards the overflow and the MP10 against it. This would definitely help with the dead spot on the left side, right under where the MP40 is currently sitting.
I would like to have them sync'd and running reef crest but the lack of flow from the MP10 makes me want to get rid of it and get an MP40 like I should have before.
Any suggestions on what to do? Input? Anything?
