I have an IM 30L. I'm trying to put a refugium in the back. Simple question - does it matter which compartment it goes into? It would either be in the compartment connected to the overflow, or the one next to it. Thanks!

I use an InTank media basket built for the 30L to hold the chaeto in place and it goes in the second chamber on the right side.

If you put it after all your mechanical, chemical, biological filtration one of two things will happen:

1) it does well because your tank has more nutrients than the filter can handle and the chaeto will help eliminate the excess.

2) it will slowly die off from starvation because your filtration is taking everything out of the water before it hits the chaeto.

If the chaeto is the first thing the water in the overflow hits, that would work well. However I’d put mechanical filtration in front if it to keep it clean and detritus out.

Where are you putting the light?

perfect. i was planning on second chamber!

light is going to be mounted on the back. the IM Fusion series has a kinda sticker/film layer you can cut out to expose the glass

Thats what I figured. Be cautious of one thing, the light shinning directly on the glass may cause algae to collect and thrive there. I did this on a small pico one time and it went from a baby refugium to an algae scrubber.

not yet. i have everything necessary set up however. tank is at my college house, im home for the summer. ill be sure to update it though.
Did you make your fuge? How did it work?

Looking forward to it. I think I'll be setting up a fuge in chamber 4, with the intank refugium basket. Just need to decide on a light.
