My LFS gave me a small piece of Montipora. I accepted because why the heck not, but I have no idea where to even put this. It's small and it basically looks like if you dropped a plate on the ground and it broke into a bunch of pieces. I guess you'd call it leaf plate montipora?

It is just sitting at the bottom of my tank because I have no idea where to even put this... Like do I glue it to the back glass? A rock? If I glue it to the back glass, does it grow outwards? Up? I know so little about this, but it looked pretty and was given to me. Any advice would be helpful.

To explain the piece I have without a picture, it is basically a half of a circle, the flat part is where it was cut from the LFS.

I'm assuming your referencing montipora capricornis.

Placement mid to high in the tank. Be careful where you place it as it can shadow anything below it as it grows.

Mine five years ago was about the size of a quarter when I glued it down. With the right light, flow and nutrients with stability over time it can become a monster.......

Thank you! I'm not even sure where I'd put it since I wouldn't want to cover anything in time. Maybe the front right side or the back left of my tank? I don't have a ton of real estate in my 34 gallon. IS it okay it glue it to the glass or does no one really do that?

If it’s the piece in the lower right, it looks more like Hollywood stunner chalice which would change placement slightly

I've not glued or epoxied anything to the tank walls, so no help there. Sorry.

Your choice, but it will shadow in time. Fragging it will help when the time comes. Plan ahead.

If it’s a cap make sure you put it somewhere that it can be easily removed in the future. Your tank looks pretty small and caps can easily take over a huge chunk of your tank. For me, I don’t have any caps because I think they eventually ruin the look of a tank.

I placed mine fairly low on the leading edge of a cave. I don't have a big tank so here it won't shadow anything but the sand and will be easy to clip back when he is getting too big. I'm hoping because it's on the lower end of its par range here I won't have to do any trimming for a long time.
