Spotted just a few of these guys last month in my tank and the population seems to be expanding rather quickly (!). So far the few zoa's and sps's in the tank don't seem to be bothered but curious if anyone has an idea what these are and if there something to be concerned about? Other then the nitrate (12.5 mg/l) being a bit high water quality is good (9 dkh, 8.3 pH, 1.025 SG, 420 CA). I used uncured live rock from Florida to set up the tank so perhaps it came from that but I'm thinking it was likely introduced from one of the frag's I purchased a while back.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

Looks like a flatworm for sure, if nothing is consuming them they will quickly increase in numbers, you may have to get serious and use something like flatworm exit to get rid of them.

yuk, there are no fish in the tank right now and other then the coral the it's just the CUC.

Do you know of any reef safe fish that consume flatworms?

p.s. your IM 20 is great!

Pretty certain its Convolutriloba retrogemma after searching the web a bit; thank you sooooo much for the quick response and ID!

There are wrasses which will sometimes eat them - usually Halichoeres or Macropharyngodon species. Sixlines may take them as well, but can become aggressive little snits with maturity.

I've got a target mandarin who adores the things, so haven't seen one in my display since she's been there.

Would love to add a mandarin to take of them but it seems like they are hit and miss with FW's; I think you got a good one! Will likely end up getting a wrasse this week. Thanks for the info.
