Hey everyone. I am starting a new build. I just picked up a 120 rimless planet aquarium tank today from @WWC. I currently have a 60 gallon deep blue cube that has been up and running for a few years but I am out of room in it so I want a new project Here is what I am thinking:

Equipment:
120 gallon rimless planet aquarium tank with center overflow
20 gallon sump
10 gallon ato tank
Reef octopus classic 202 S internal skimmer (rated for 250 gallons)
2 Vortech MP 40
Reef octopus various 8 return pump
2 Ecotech radions (may do T5 combo....not sure)
Apex controller

Livestock:
An assortment of tangs and wrasses
2 picasso clowns
Some fighting conchs, urchins and some mexican turbos (going to try and avoid small snails and crabs)

Corals:
Full mix of corals

My plan is to run a simple setup and run a clean sump with a oversized skimmer. That is it. I will do 10 gallon water change a week and that is about it. Let me know what you think.

Looks nice...congrats on the upgrade.

How many holes are in the overflow box? And I'm assuming they are on the bottom of the tank?

GMACREEF.com has a lot of info on the bean animal system.

Just picked some of this stuff up to glue acrylic baffles into my sump. Hopefully work on that over next few days. I ordered my return pump which is a reef octopus varios 8. That should give me some nice flow in the tank. Also ordered to vivid aquatics random flow nozzles. I am still deciding on 2 mp40 or 2 gyre pumps. Not sure yet,

I do have a question for everyone. My tank came pre drilled with 2 1"drains and 2 3/4" returns. How would you guys plumb this. Looked at durso and herbie. Also thought of bean but then would lose one of my returns so that i could have third drain pipe. I am going to put ball valves on all return and drain lines as a precaution depending on the plumbing method i go with. I would appreciate any advice on this. Thanks.

Use gate valves, more precise when tuning in the pumps.

Ok. Thanks. Leaning towards the herbie plumbing method or the durso method. Ruled out bean animal because i want 2 returns. Anyone got a preference on the 2. Want good flow and quiet

Working on the aquascape. Making sure I have enough rock. Want to leave plenty of open space for fish.

Good job so far. Keep it up. Have you started on putting together the electric compartment?

I am having 2- 18" cabinets built for the sides of the stand to match the stand in design and color. Left side will hold all electronics and right side will hold supplies and other stuff. I havent bought any of the electronics yet other than return pump and skimmer. Was going to go with ecotech products but am rethinking that some may do gyre instead of mp40 and maybe t5 with reef brites. Not sure yet

Gorgeous tank! It's exactly what i want and intend on getting next year. I'm building a monster system right now and tank later. Looks great so far, I'm following!

Hello everyone I have just had new pipes fitted to my tank and a gate valve. Can you tell me which way to turn to take your water level down and vice Verda please. I’m not a newbie to tanks but I am to the plumbing side. Thanks in advance

Clockwise closes the valve, widdershins opens it.

Nice looking system!

Like he said above.

I also ordered dr tims all in one so once i get the plumbing and stuff done, i will water test the connections for a few days and then drain it to add the saltwater and dr tims for cycling. Looking forard to it.

Thank you for your reply. I don’t suppose you know how to tell the difference with wreckfish male/female please

The only knowledge I have regarding wreckfish would be in the form of a recipe... Lemon and butter over hickory smoke, and gender doesn't make a bit of difference ;)

The ones I used to catch off S. Carolina were a bit big for a 120g tank... 40 to 60 lbs, two or three feet long, and they're _not_ an attractive fish... at least not until after they're filleted and grilled!

Perhaps there is some other species with the common name of 'wreckfish' that I may be unaware of?
