I had originally installed the gaskets on the bulkheads before putting them through the internal box. I ended up with a tiny trickle down the outside of the tank. My LFS checked with PA and they said the gaskets need to go between the glass and outside box. I just switched it like they said. On the gasket one side is smooth and the other side has two ribs around it. I first placed them with the ribs facing the glass and reassembled everything. This time I had two steady streams running down the tank. Water was coming from the inside...water level hadn't gotten up to the bulkheads in the outer box. Took it all apart, flipped the gaskets around and also made sure the bulkheads were centered in the holes. Again, two steady streams running down the tank.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? When I tighten the bulkhead screws or whatever they're called I'm only hand tightening them.

In the hardware section of this forum, you will find bulkhead installing tips by AZDesertrat. lots of good tips and solutions to your problem.

Nothing in the thread concerning the Tideline overflows or per the manuf only using one set of gaskets.

I have not seen a tideline in person but it looks similar to the ghost overflow. On the ghost the gasket goes on the back of the box between the internal overflow box and the glass. So, the answer you got sounds right. I would put the flat side of the gasket against the glass. Make sure you properly tighten the bulkhead but don’t go overboard. It should be tightened as much as you can by hand (I like to call it two grunts tight) not using any tools. If you have one of those BRS bulk head wenches you can use those

This is the way I originally had it and was getting a tiny trickle down the back side which made me think water inside the external box was seeping out. The ghost's have 4 gaskets...a set inside against the glass and a set outside against the glass.

If it were me, I think I would get two additional gaskets and mount the overflow like a Ghost or Synergy Overflow - with gaskets on both sides of the back glass.

That's the latest plan. Was talking with the LFS owner yesterday afternoon. He thinks he's got a couple of gaskets that will fit. Going to take the box in to see if they will work. If not it's back to PA with more complaints! ;-)

I don't quite believe this is what they mean by "Tank Emergency". Sorry, but threads like this belong in another area. Seen way too many forums with sections like this get ignored due to non-pertinent content.

Did you ever find a solution? I’m getting ready to set up the same. Read your post and ordered a couple extra gaskets. Already noticing it’s next to impossible to set up a bean overflow with u-shaped pvc fittings. 16” is about 2” too short it seems. Do you have any pics to how you set yours up?!

I use the herbie overflow set up. I eventually just turned down the return pump speed to reduce the amount of water going into the tank / overflow. Pretty much went dead silent right away. I've got the Varios 6 and am running it at 39%. I don't have any pics but can try to get one later today.

I'm actually working with Exotic Marine on a new overflow box. With his the external box sit a little higher allowing for higher water level in the internal box and not requiring the emergency overflow pipes to be so high. I should be getting a template in the mail any day to make sure it fits my existing holes. Once I've got it I'll update this post.

My Exotic Marine overflow is scheduled for delivery today. I'll probably start an unboxing thread later this week / weekend. I'll tag you in it.
