Hi all,
I am in the process of building a standard 75 gallon. I am debating on how to drill and setup flow in this tank. Where its going in my house I would like to keep it as close to the wall as possible. I was thinking of drilling the left side for the overflow and also putting the returns on that side as well. I am just unsure if this is a good move or not. Just ordered the overflow yesterday so have some time to decide. Your input is very appreciated! Thanks!

Only drawbacks to a side overflow are that 1) you can't view the tank from that side, so now you're down to 2 viewing panes, and 2) it limits placement of powerheads and creates other flow management difficulties. Peninsula tanks often have two powerheads at the opposite end of the overflow - again affecting the viewing pane somewhat.
