I have a second Sb reef 45 coming to me hopefully ( LFS is a dealer so i ordered though them) First one came in with damaged case from shipping. If you were lighting it, what would you recommend? If something were to fall through, im trying to figure out a Plan B. ive run SB reef on all tanks, so i suck at knowing the other brands and how many etc.

Bump,

Any light folk around this eve?

Depends on needs and budget. There's Reef Breeders Photon V2+, two Red Sea 90s, two Hydra 32s, Noopsyche k7 pro...

Would Hydra 32s be enough? Say let's keep it around 700

For $700 I would probably just snap up the Photon V2+ and call it done. Tons of power, good warranty, 6 channels of control....would probably grow anything you ever wanted.

I'll give it a Google.

So I have it down to pretty much 2 hydra 32s for plan B. Wife did not care for the look of the photon. What limits will I have with 2 hydras? Not looking for full sps, but I'd like some here and there. Lps and clams really is what I'm after.

Hydras will pretty much grow whatever you want. New Hydras are bluetooth controlled, not sure if that matters to you. Some seem to lose their marbles over the switch from WiFi to Bluetooth.

Think you'll be happy with them.

I have been running the Hydra 26 has for a while and really like the Hydra's. I will most likely upgrade to the 32's. One other light I like is the GHL Mitras LX 7004. The GHL lights would be another $300 plus brackets.

I would also suggest if you go with the Hydra's, the HMS brackets are really nice. I did make a modification since I have a rim on my tank,

Meh. I don't need wifi. If I'd want to do anything to them remotely it would be to cut them off, but I could do that via the reef angel I intend to use on this build. As a IT guy by trade, the Bluetooth will actually have less in it's way than A wifi device

Will 2 limit me in any sense, or from a lighting standpoint grow anything I want?

I have a rimmed tank, but the unfortunate thing, is my wife hates hates hates the hms mounts.... So I'd have to figure out how to mount them

Not likely.

Tank dimensions?

I think you'll be good with 2 hydras. One on each side of the middle brace. If you put a 3rd over the center, the brace will produce a significant shadow.

That was my fear.. I think I'll go with 32s unless I find a stupid deal on a pair of 64. I just want clams and lps, and choice sps so.
