I tend to over-plan things & wound up with this spreadsheet for coral placement in my new 75.

I'm picking up the zoa frags tonight, so wanted to get some more eyes on this. I'm upgrading from a 55 gallon, which currently has the war coral, kryptonite candy canes, & branching anchor coral mentioned in the spreadsheet.

They way to really plan for this is to rent a par meter and see where you're at. Then ask the person you're buying from whether they can provide their own measurements. Otherwise placement in relation to the top of the aquarium/light is rather arbitrary. I'll add that, with zoas in particular, it's always better to start in lower light and then move higher over the course of a couple weeks. The reason is pretty simple, a zoa not receiving enough light will pan, a zoa that gets blasted with light simply melts. As for water movement zoas tolerate a wide range of water flow, I wouldn't concern myself with that provided you don't 1) directly blast them and 2) you don't have detritus settling between the polyps.

I'm really sad our local club is in hibernation right now. We have a PAR meter, but it's apparently locked up until next year when the club starts meeting again :( I simply can't make myself spend the $50+ to rent a PAR meter when I'd be able to get one for free typically.

I definitely plan on starting them all off at the very bottom & slowly inching them towards their eventual home, the spreadsheet locations are the final resting places.

Thanks for the input!
