Building a new 180G and I am trying to figure out what to do with my old 75G tank. I would like to make the 75 into a LPS&SPS only/LR/bare bottom QT but I am afraid I am missing something. I plan to use this tank as a QT and then transfer corals to the 180 DT.

I am use to the no rock, bare bottom coral QT so adding LR to a QT and possibly a few algae eating fish (blenny/tang) has me concerned that I may run into problems. I also plan on adding a few inverts. I know, sounds like a second DT.....

I do know that adding a new coral to this tank with a few algae eating fish could cause fish disease issues, but what other things should I be concerned with?

The 75G is about 1 year old (still maturing), has LR, sump, skimmer, fuge/cheato, UV etc.

If there's fish in it then it's not a QT, it's just a bare looking display. The point of coral and invert QT is that there are no fish to be carriers of the life cycle of a disease. Many diseases like ich rely on a fish for one portion of their life cycle, when the disease gets to that point in the cycle, it can't find a host so it dies. You can keep rock in there, my coral/invert QT has rock and sand, so it looks nice even when I don't have any coral in there.
