Anyone ever place any plants around your tank such as ivy plants. Ivy plants are known as air purifiers and give out good oxygen. Today I was talking to my wife about opening up windows to let out some of the carbon dioxide in the room and I got reemed on about wasting ac and she said why don't you just put some plants around the tank. I thought about it and it actually sounded like a decent idea. Would it help or am I just sounding stupid here.

I think it would take a lot of plants to see a co2 reduction. I bring many plants inside for the winter and I place them low in the room so the get light from the tanks. They do really good. If you want to try at least you already have a good light source.
I try to open my doors and let fresh air in early in the morning while it's cooler.

Your first concern would be scents given off by flowers or certain leaves. I know candles, even all natural ones, can cause Cyanobacteria. I'm not sure where to find a list of said plants but I am sure there are some.

Second would be to make sure leaves don't drop into the tank. I had in sump mangroves before and I had a net to catch leaves.

3rd would be to make sure they are tame able and do not entangle into any wiring.

Last would be light requirements. If they are higher light plants that need a window you are looking at potential algae in tank.

At least that's all I can think to be weary of
