Plants overgrowing tank

Can I just trim back the plants or do I need to remove them totally?

I don't see any plants that need trimming. If you are referring to the awesome leather, gorgonian, and kenya growth, then yes, feel free to trim as you see fit. I would recommend watching this...

That's a nice looking tank! You can trim away. Personally, I'd let it grow more. Trade or sell the frags to local reefers or talk to your LFS owner. They may give you some store credit for them.
 
Yeah I really like softie tanks. Highly underrated. Soft corals are not plants though, they are animals (invertebrates).
