plastic rap for temporary tank cover

I do not have a tank lid yet and just put plastic wrap over the top of my aquarium to stop the fish from jumping out...lost one already...is this ok?

What kind of lights do u have? If it isnt LEDs I would b worried about the heat melting the Saran Wrap.

If you were bombing your house for bugs then that may work but if not then there are better options. A square of eggcrate would work much better.

I have a t5 light 2 bulbs..I just put my hand under It and very little heat...not enough to melt It....do you think It will be ok?

Go to the hardware store and pick up lighting diffusers AKA egg-crate.

At the VERY least make sure there are some holes in it, so you dont' have gas buildup.

Get yourself some clear mesh from BRS and make a screen frame with parts from HD or lowes. This is the best and cleanest option I've found. It will allow for better oxygen exchange and will not block light. Eggcrate will block some of your light and so will glass and acrylic when it gets dirty. The plastic wrap should work for a short term solution as long as you are getting good oxygen exchange through your sump and skimmer.
