I bought a brand new 35 gallon horizontal leg Norwesco storage tank for RO/DI water. I'm eventually going to set up a mixing station. However, the inside of the container has a plastic like smell. I rinsed out the bin with vinegar and water, then filled it up with some water and let it sit for a day. When I drain some water out of it into a bucket, the water smelled like the plastic container. I rinsed it again with vinegar and tried scrubing the insides, then filled it up with water and about 3 gallons of vinegar. After letting it sit another day or two in the garage, I drained it, rinsed it, put a few gallons of RO in it and waited another few days. Drained some water from it into a bucket and it still has a plastic smell! Is this normal? Anyone else with a Norwesco go through this? Is the water safe to use? Should I add carbon to the water container?
If I need to remove this smell and there is a better way to clean the container to do so, please share. Thanks all!
