I'm refurbishing my wood tank hood.

Any problems/toxicity using black spraycan PlastiDip paint on the interior of the hood to make it more water-resistant????

This is what I use. It’s a polymer dissolved in a solvent. You paint it on outdoors, the solvent penetrates the wood, & evaporates, leaving the polymer. Nothing like it, I’ve found.

Expensive, but does exactly what I want, which is to make wood water impenetrable.

Can I use plastidip white to inside a new wooden canopy for my DT?
It will protect the wood from water also I hope the color white will reflect the light back into the tank ..ie any stray sideways light...

As long as it is not in the water you will be fine.
I would imagine the evaporation is the concern with the OP. Evap into canopy then drip back down into tank since plastidip is essentially liquid, pigmented, vinyl. I have no idea if it's marine safe or not though.

Edit: According to a quick google search "Is PlastiDip Marine Safe", another forum discussed this back in 2008, and one of the members received a reply from the manufacturers of PlastiDip saying that it is indeed reef safe once it has fully cured. They advised letting it cure for at least a week to ensure all of the solvents have evaporated.

Hope this helps
