I am looking into getting a Scoly and/or Plate coral and am in the research phase. I have read that they are hard to keep alive in a tank and have a very high death rate. I was just wondering about anyone that has had success with either of these? This is a very broad question but what do I need to know or is the basic message stay away?

Scoly are very strong corals
Only injuries as cut or burn take them to dye
So must be place far from aggressive corals such euphyla or others
Possibly on sand
and handly with care
They are sensitive to acclimatization. light during it must be more actinic
and feed by solution of 10 ml of water tank with 2 drop of amino
Do not feed with solids because for them is stressfull

I would agree that scolies and chalices are generally pretty strong corals. Chalices may have more variance in this than scolies since there are multiple varieties. What other types of corals have you kept? That might help us to determine the learning curve and give you some suggestions on how their care might be similar to what you've already had.

Thanks for the replies! Good question, I have honestly only kept a torch coral and some zoas. I do not have a very broad range or much experience here.
