Plate coral attacked, is there hope?

Last night my porky spawn fell off the rocks and landed on my baby plate. It has lost about 25 percent tissue.

Do you think it may recover?

Lower light, low flow and feed it if it will accept the food.

Recovery or not, leave the dead skeleton and hope for it to reproduce baby plates, (anthocauli).

Mine didn't survive, And like a dummy I threw away the skeleton

dip it..if it doesnt slime or recede in the next few days then it should recover in no time....if it still keeps sliming in the next few days,siphon out the slime...do a quick dip again.....as long as u get it clean of any slime then theres a chance of it recovering...u dont want it to keep receding or worst develop an infection or brown jelly.

Is something like lugol's ok for a dip?

I got this plate as a hitch hiker on small rock with another coral. It was less then 1/8" when I got it. It's now about the size of a dime. Hopefully I will be able to see it grow some more.

+1 to that. I have an inch and half orange plate that lost some flesh for no reason I could find. Put it off to the side with lower light and flow and left it alone. About a month later is has re grown the flesh, but lagging behind in growing a proper mouth. Moved it under stronger light to see what happens.

Lugol's is a good idea. Besides tissue damage, infection will do in your plate coral. Dont freak out if you see clean up critters removing the necrotic tissue.

Today the plate is plumped up some and has some extension. I think it's gonna survive. Definitely not going to look as nice as it did for awhile though.
