so my ppe plate has been doing fine and I noticed it not extending his arms and I turned it over and there's a rip on the bottom side what can I do will it hurt it?

I would suggest to move it to lower light and bump up the nutrents in the system and let it heal up.

I have it in one of the corners where there is less light and nutrient wise everything is stable nothing is out of Wack

@Vaughn17 stated spot feed, I was reading that a nutrient heavy environment was the best way to heal the tear. Spot feeding will not through off you systems number and still giving the plate coral what it needs

Well I spot feed all my coral three times a week with reef energy and then phyto and oysterfeast and twice a week with reef roids

I would try feeding it mysis soaked in reef roids. Turn off your pumps and place the food on the plate. Watch to make certain that no fish or crusteans steal the food. I have know the latter to gut lps (which kills them) that have been spot fed, so be careful, especially if you have hermits.

Seems like you have it under control, From the reading I did yesterday and since I do not have a plate coral yet, the general conscious was to feed and let the coral hang out in a shaded area for for 2 weeks or long to heal.

Alrite cool I'll move it under some shade for alittle bit thank you

Everytime I get a Plate that Happens and It Just Spreads until there is Nothing Left.

I am told it is one of 2 Things.

1. An Air Bubble Got Under it and Irritated it.

2. When they Collect Coral from the Ocean they have only so many Permits. So they will Take a Rock and Glue 5 or 6 Plates to it and Tell Customs it is just One Coral and not 6. But then They have to Break the Plate Off Once it Gets to the States and This Damages the Plate.

You should Always inspect the Bottom of any Plate Before you Buy it.

My Original Two Plates Lived for Years before I traded them but they were on the Sand Bed.

All my Tanks are Bare Bottom Now.

I Love Plates but I cannot Buy them because They will just Die.

I have Tried Everything. Moving Them, Feeding Them, etc.

Nothing I do Saves Them :(

Not to derail the thread , but have you tried gluing the bottom middle of the plate onto an upside down frag plug? i.e. keep them suspended it works great.

Never heard of that.

Now I will have to Buy Another Plate and Try it. :)

Not to hijack but since you all seem to have knowledge of this species ....

I picked up a Helio a couple of weeks ago and they told me there was a small amount of damage but it enough to worry just to keep an eye on it and treat as needed...
However today while stirring the sand I saw some sand up on it so I turkey basted it to get the sand off and found the below pic and started to freak. Ive googled and attempted to research but I cant find ANYTHING on what to do for my poor family member.
If any one knows what I should do please let me know.
