Well just as the topic says my plate coral is moving.. as weird as it sounds. I’m sure there’s a reason. My current i can rule out because it was stationary for 72 hours. Then yesterday i saw that it had moved a couple inches or so forward and to the right then today i noticed it again moved a couple inches. Any ideas?

Got a trachy doing the same.

Usually they do move. I used to mess with mine to get it back where I wanted but gave up and let it do its thing. Its moving for a reason so I figured just let it go where it wants.

Plate Corals can move around and flip themselves over if they happen to be upside down. They can also I bury themselves if the sand gets on them. When I see my plates knocked over I don’t even bother touching them.

This is so perfect timing on a post of this type as I am 3000 miles away from my tank and look in on it daily on an Amcrest video camera that I mounted and I can tell that my plate coral has moved at least 4 to 5 inches from where I left him. And I have not mentioned it to my wife because I’m sure she doesn’t notice and I just figure he will go where he wants and be happy!

My orange plate moved the most. My plates always moved against one another. I have a tiny one right now that moved next to my big green one.

After setting still for several months my purple rimmed orange plate moved about 2 inches this week.

I have heard of them moving but not righting themselves! The big question is how?! That would be really cool to even see them moving. My two seem perfectly content where they are. [emoji57]

If they are flipped upside down, they inflate like a balloon on one side until they flip back up. It’s honestly a very cool thing to watch.

My plate moves all the time. So much so, I basically gave it the short end of the peninsula so it could move around as much as it wants to. It's amazing how much it can inflate at times as well. Always just assumed it was normal so never gave it any thought.
