Do plate corals fight with each other? My orange short tentacles keeps inflating and moving directly on top of my green long tentacles trying to smother him. I've had these corals for 2 years with no issues previously....really strange behavior.

Pictures please! No idea but sounds interesting.

Well this is the current situation. Greeny has puffed up and appears to be keeping orange off him right now.

Soooooo neat. I love the behavioral aspects of this hobby. Thank you for sharing!

Gorgeous corals btw!

Much like my home life apparently there is a rift in the bliss between my plates. Hopefully they will resolve their issues with some help from others in the tank.

Orange is thinking that persistence pays off.

Edit: that was a bad joke. Someone should refer orange to CR*

Do you think they were procreating instead of fighting?

did this start before, during or after the eclipse?

No I guess they could just be horsing around
Doesn't look like they've done damage to each other. My best guess is that the orange plate is trying to relocate to a slightly better spot and the green long tentacle plate is in the way.

That was my first thought and I moved him to the other side and he scooted back on top of the green. I moved him to the middle front and he worked his way back to the corner.

Hhmmm. I think you might on to something here. Same day as the eclipse
and you didn't post in the thread "anything off" :winking-face-with-tongue:
Funny that night all the snails were on the glass. and a fighting conch was 1/2 way up the back wall.

Hmm, tracks.

Does this not also look like an act of desperation from a higher-than-average IQ invert?

Perhaps they know something that we don't...:astonished-face:

It's kind of like how a dog knows an earthquake is about to happen before it starts huh...
