One of my first corals i want is a plate coral. How hard are these to keep and what do i need to watch out for?

Great corals to start with :)
From my experience fungias and heliofungias are the easier ones to keep. Low flow and low-medium light like mentioned above.
It's fun to wake up and check out the tank and find them on the other side of the tank and all puffed up.

Cool i think ill order the one i want to get my wife next month. They move around the tank? I didnt know that.

When they puff up and deflate, they can move around the tank. Sort of like walking around till they find the right spot. I've had one for 2+ years and it hasn't moved. So it not all the time it's just something that can happen.

In the 7 years I've been playing with salt I'd say I've had my fair share of problems. But mostly due to having crabs fish or large snails flip stuff like my acan frags or find a way to flip my duncan onto sand and I won't see it until late in the day or the next morning when I get up. And the tissue starts to recede. But every tank is different. I've been fortunate that I haven't had any problems in a long while.

Here is my most recent one and I also have an orange one. I'm trying to get a variety of colors so when I do my upgrade I can have a plate garden. I've collected a nice assortment of zoas Acans. I have 2 plate and 2 different brain. I like lps.

How well do they move? are they like walking, or floating around like Anemone?
I read somewhere they move little, i was under impression like walking/crawling on sand.
I just ordered one, and planned on placing some rocks around it to keep it from moving far but still giving it space to walk a bit.
I have a few clams down low and plan on putting an Aussie Elegance in the sand on the far right of the tank.
The Plate i plan on putting in the middle of the tank in an indirectly lit spot.
Tank is 6' long

They fill up their body with water and become slightly buoyant. They almost bob along the substrate. It's a bit hard to explain. Mine would move about 4 or 5 inches over night.
That rock idea could work, but keep a close eye on them as they can bump into things and you don't wana damage the flesh on a jagged bit of rock. From my experience they will keep away from other corals as they don't have a sting or anything to defend themselves with. You should be more than happy getting one but like an anemone he will find the spot (or 2) he likes best and stay there. I've never had any issue with them :)
