I have a flame angel and my tank and currently have my frags in a fry box just to be safe, however , I picked up a plate coral that is too big to fit in with the frags, will my flame angel bother it? I also have a flame hawk and emerald crab.

It’s really a hit or miss with flame angels. I had 2 model citizens, but many have experienced to be not reef safe.

Well, if anything goes wrong, I will blame the emerald crab. The flamehawk does a good job at protecting things for me. We have a mutual understanding.

Considering a flame.....CONSIDERING....they are tough to acclimate but ....

I don’t think so. I dipped it in fresh water for 3 min at room temperature, put it in a 10 gallon tank with matched salinity and 60mg/gal CP for 4 weeks quarantine. It's doing great, never showed signs of distress. Another is going thought the same treatment. The first one a female, the second a male. I'm going to attempt to pair them. If it doesn’t work out, they get their own tanks.

I have been told they don’t handle copper treatment well. Perhaps this is where you got the idea they are hard to acclimate. They are also very difficult to pair without one killing the other. Coral beauties are more aggressive and will kill them as well.

Oh, not at first but long term imo.... 3-4 months in mine took a turn for the worse....of course this could have been my parameters not linking up, ....all my others are still here from amongst that group....my Coral beauty has fared very well as a single.

It may be that others were bullying it and you never saw it. I did lose one when I first started because I thought the coral beauty and the Flame were getting along, but the flame starter to cower in the corner and not eat. It was acting like an abused puppy. I looked closer and its fins were ravaged. It must have been happening at night or something. Never had any issues like this with solitary angels. It just refused to eat and starved to death. They eat flake food just fine, but they also like establish live rock to pick at.
