I recently purchased a maze coral. Everything was good for a few weeks and now it’s bleaching or...... Not sure what I should do. Took it in and out of light. Raised and lowered it in the tank. Water parameters are on point. Any help would be appreciated!

its a hungry direct feeder. direct feeding and water changes is how I would regen it

can you post other lps that are doing well, helpful to see comparatives.

Ok so it’s been a few weeks and it’s not doing any better. I feed it every other day about an hour after the lights go out. It get reef roids and mysis shrimp. Not sure it it actually eats but the tentacles are out and food lays all over it. Not sure why the color is fading. It use to be a bright purple with neon green in the middle. Just had my water parameters checked at the LFS and compared them to what I get and they are still perfect. I have 2 Acans that were near dead those are coming back nicely. Got them this way. This maze coral isn’t doing so good. Lights are T5s with 3 250w MH, tank is a 220. Need more light? It is currently in the middle of the tank on the sand bed. Everything else is doing great except for my Zoas which are barley opening.

What are your actual parameters for NO3/Phosphate/Alkalinity/CA ?

It sounds like you're doing about the right stuff, how's flow around it? But nutrient level would be the first thing I'd look into.

Amonia - no color - API
Phosphate - no color - API - / .02 - Hannah digital
Alk - 8.4 - Red Sea / 8.6 - Hannah digital
Calc - 430 Red Sea / 440 - Hannah Digital
PH - 8.1 - Apex Digital
Salinity - 35.3 - Apex Digital / same on refractometer
Nitrate - 2ppm - Hannah Digital
ORP - 376 - Apex Digital
Temp 75-77 - depends on the time with the lights

10 hours on with T5's blues and purples
6 hours on with Halides

I run protein skimmer, chateo and an algae scrubber. I feed a little heavy to make sure every eats reason for all the crap. I just turned off the algae scrubber and turned the carbon back on. Maybe I am stripping the water to clean...? I just did a 50% water change 2 weeks ago. Not sure if I should turn the halides off completely for a week or just setup a whole new tank because this ones seems to be cursed!

Flow I would say is moderate, maybe I can turn it up a bit but the torches hate it! I can raise it up in the tank where the return jets are, have a lot more flow up top.

You may be on the low side for nutrients, but your feeding regime looks good. I normally feed like 3-4 times a day on the weekends, a quarter sized chunk of reef frenzy or similar block instead of mysis. Then on the weekdays I feed 2x with pellets (feeder) and once 2 quarter sized chunk of reef frenzy. I then do reef chili and Fauna Marin medium LPS pellets for some of the larger LPS. Just wondering if you have enough extra debris in your main feedings? Mine has almost "snow" of shredded shrimp/scallop etc... whatever is in reef frenzy. It all looks good from what you are posting, they're probably very slow to respond, so don't make changes too quickly. If anything maybe try even lower flow? No easy solution that I can see.

Well I feed the tank once a day about half dollar size 1/4” thick. I make my own food. I blend it down so it is snow like. Current food is made up from mysis shrimp, shrimp, scallops, silver fish, clams, squid, white fish, garlic, flake food, seaweed, vitamin c. I direct feed my corals every other day with reef roids and mysis shrimp. Day/Night depending on the coral. I have just started doing .5mm mysis pellets to see if they like that as well. I have my halides off gonna try that for a few days. Other then that....I say the tank is cursed!
