I know I really don't know why it says no use on Cali lol. I was wondering, would quickrete pool filter sand do the job? https://www.lowes.com/pd/QUIKRETE-50-lb-Sand-Pool-Filter-Aid/3595316Back in the day people used a sand from Home Depot I believe under the same of Southdown. It was stupidly cheap and great for marine reefs. The only drawback was that it was too fine for some higher flow systems. Bulk purchases, people buying in bulk and getting trucking companies to ship direct. Fun times. I used about 200 lbs of it myself and it was great.
The sand you list I'm not sure. I probably wouldn't but you are starting off right by at least doing some research. Interesting that it is flagged not for sale in California - lol.
I think play sand has silicates in it?

For the cost I would just get some caribsea sand. I can usually find it for like a dollar a pound or less shipped.Well it would be awesome if more people could pitch in and cast their opinions...
I’m in the textile testing industry, you would not believe the list of restrictions and special testing California has for fabric, yarn, nonwovens, and furniture that are extra and far and above normal USA regulations. I’m pretty sure they have so crazy restrictions on sand and other landscaping things as well.Back in the day people used a sand from Home Depot I believe under the same of Southdown.
