Playdough as a Plumber's Putty substitute when drilling tanks

Due to the harsh winter down here in Alabama with the temps getting into the single digits, I had a outside faust line burst (the kind that aren't supposed to freeze). I had 12 tanks sitting in my garage waiting to be drilled for a setup and I couldn't run the hose and take a risk of another freeze. I finally found a few hours I could dedicate to drilling the tanks, but I forgot to buy the Plumber's Putty and it was late at night, so the local hardware stores were closed. So my mind got to thinking and the lightbulb went off to use something very close to the consistence of plumber's putty.

PLAYDOUGH

So I rolled out a small bit of neon blue playdough and formed my barrier and to my surprise it worked perfectly. After about 6 holes, it started to get a little messy because of all the water but I continued to use that single piece. I was able to drill all 12 holes and only used 3 cups of water.

So long story short, if you need to drill some holes and you don't have Plumber's Putty lying around, raid your kids toys and use some playdough.

Although my kids steeling my car already I'll be the only one playing with play-dough in the house.

I just used playdough yesterday to drill two holes in a 90- stuff gets messy by the time you are done, but it can get you through in a pinch!
