As niche interests go, this is probably not a really popular one, but been recently futzing around with this older MTC HSA1000 ‘stretch’.

In the process of thinking about really huge tanks (1,000 true gallon displays), skimmers and flow devices start to get silly price tags.

Those skimmers worked great. I had an ETS skimmer way back, ~20 years ago. It was 5' tall, needed an Iwaki 70 to operate, but skimmed out lots of nasty effluent.

Are you already planning the next upgrade??? I’m just now making progress on you old tank!

The prices on large skimmers get into ridiculous ville pretty quick. DIY was my route to build a large skimmer and keep the price in reality ville.

Local reefer was selling a standard HSA1000 for a really good price. Added an extension tube that I had on hand.
