So apparently reefs make noise! It sounds like a bowl of rice krispies, frying bacon or sometimes popcorn. And scientists are playing these noises in bleached reefs to attract more animals to get these bleached reefs back on their feet. Here's a video:
I wonder if these noises could somehow positively affect our home reefs. Obviously it won't help introduce new species or anything but I wonder if it'd make fish or corals happier.
Here is also a five hour recording of reef noises:
I'm curious to hear opinions and I might attempt an experiment.

While it is a great tool for bleached reefs in the ocean I’m not too sure if it would be of any benefit in a closed system like our reef tanks.

I know when I go snorkeling there have been some times when visibility is less then 5ft and I can use the sound of all the little critters to help guide me to the reef lines. I’m sure predatory fish use the same sounds.

For anyone who has a big enough tank stick your head/ears under the water line and I’m sure you can hear your critters.

Think of all the noise our tanks already produce. The sound of pumps, powereheads, skimmers and just ambient room noise
True, I wonder if that noise disturbs our aquariums like it does in the wild. It probably does.
