Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone has built a control system with PLC instead of buying an Apex system and how they found the end product to be in comparison? Better functionality? Lower cost?

Thanks!

Edit: Sorry I found my answers after doing a proper search on here! Makes sense in terms of cost and form factor to just go for an apex system.

If you have some PLC hardware kicking around, or have needs that a standard APEX won't handle, the PLC is the way to go of course :)

I do program various PLCs for work but I dont have any personal ones knocking around. I think if I go a DIY route I'll probably try the Arduino or Pi controller so I can learn something new and save some $ !

Picking this up again, @JackOMalley know quite a bit about this.

Jack, are you aware of a specific timer or pdu that has that kind of reliability or do I need a PLC? If I need a PLC, where do I start, do they sell PLC with power strips built it?
