If it is a food grade container,it will be fine. Rubbermaid Brute trash cans are good and can be bought at Lowes or Home Depot.

Yep hubby called the company we got the floor from and thankfully he invested the extra $300 for the water proof backing on the real wood incase water seeps through the cracks but because it was put together correctly there's no worries on the floor

Yeah, the advice so far is good. I would also tend to agree with lisa28 that if you really want to be safe, you could buy a bottle of Bio-Spira (or better, Dr. Tim's One and Only, though it's more expensive) and dump that in when you have things set back up.
