Please Critique My Current Plans! :)

Not just at other fish either, my wife's lightning jumped and tried to murder my eyeball! True and extremely funny event.

I had a maroon launch out of my tank trying to bite me once just w/ my hand above tank, not even in the water yet!
I looked at it on the carpet thinking that fish was lucky it just accepted a mate just days before or it woulda gone bye bye.

I agree, one pair of clowns per normal size tank is best.

Yep, the two pairs of clowns might work for a short time in a tank that big. As soon as the maroons become sexually mature it won't work any longer.

You have to remember many of those "semi aggressive" labels are often referring to how the fish reacts to completely unrelated fish. Fish more closely related are often a far different story. For instance, Cirrhilabrus filamentosus often is labeled as "peaceful" or "semi aggressive" They are if referring to fish other than other wrasses. With other Cirrhilabrus or Paracheilinus they are terribly aggressive.

...

That's not going to work. Only do clowns in pairs of "two" and they have to be a male and female of the same species.

Get them tiny and only one pair, per reef.

Otherwise it's going to be an out right war...
Sounds good! Thanks for the info!

Looks like your tanks coming along nicely, well done.
I agree on the clown selection, I’d pick one or the other. Also, 10. 1 Humu Picasso Triggerfish isn’t reef safe. Not sure what they do to corals but they’ll have any snails or hermits for snacks.
Ill go ahead and get some better research on that trigger. Thanks for the comment on the tank!

Maroons do seem to be more aggressive. If only one pair is the case, im leaning towards the ice clowns anyways.

Awesome bit of information. Thank you for taking a look!

Update:
I was a little worried that my nutrients where not high enough to warrant chaeto. Boy was I wrong.

This picture is chaeto at 6 days old.

Me and my wife are going away for a couple days for Christmas with my brothers family.

So I decided to snatch a Neptune AFS and two little fish feeding ring. Here are the pictures for it. If I ever use it as a source to feed daytime I will have to re work how and where it is implemented. For now though, it is perfect!

Im glad I got it a couple days early. My fish are still somewhat unsure of the pellets as I feed flake. So I have been mixing them together for now. They are figuring it out!

Ill be away until Christmas eve. The plan then is two grab a few corals one being an anemone and let those sit for a couple weeks, and then begin going down my stocking list.

That also allows me enough time to set up my quarantine system for both frags and fish.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone. Have a safe time out there on the roads!

I'd skip the nem until your tank has aged a bit. They really need stable parameters and can foul a tank if they die.
Ill definitely look into it. Thats about the last bit of info to research before I start adding livestock. I appreciate the heads up though!

Update:
I had an awesome weekend. Up until my truck broke down 5 hours away from home. Had to leave it and grab a rental due to no one being open at the part store.
Got my wife and boat back home after a night in the hotel. I will be going back north to grab new calipers as mine froze and returning with my truck. What a weekend...

As far as the tank goes. It was super reliable knowing I had my neptune running my tank.
Unfortunately it looks as I was overfeeding. You can see some hair algea beginning to form.

So thats the problem at hand.

I do see the smallest amount on my chaeto. I plan on scrapping it and getting new start if it doesnt resolve itself by the new year.

Either way thats what I will be tackling the next few weeks.

Happy reefing and hope everyo e enjoyed the holidays!!

Update: I did a 30% water change and scrubbed a lot of the algea. I did have to throw away my chaeto.

It seems to be clearing up very nicely. I plan on getting more chaeto when it comes back in stock. Doing another big water change this weekend as well as scrubbing my porus stone in my refugium.

Easy to come hard to go. Dang you GHA!

Update:
I have eradicated all GHA! It was a 3 week battle but I won. I had my tank on 72 hr blackouts followed by 24 hours of light. I did 3 major 33% water changes every 7 days. I scrubbed all rock and porus rock in my refugium.

If I had coral, Im not sure how long the battle would have taken. The blackouts sure did help a lot.

I plan on maintaining stable parameters for two weeks, before I start my quarantine process on my first batch of fish.

Happy reefing!

Update:
I have been away for some months. Due to work. So here is an update. I sure hope the thread isnt dead.

In late January I started to notice that the GHA had turned white and was still covering my tank. I presume it was dead but just lingering. So I decided to get 2 lawnmower blennys and 2 cleaner shrimp.

They started to absolutely devour the stuff, and although its still there, it looks much better. Unfortunately, one of the shrimp had gotten to close to my maxspect grye, so now we only have one [emoji26].

We also had a turbo snail lay eggs! It was so cool to watch. That was about a month ago. We are already starting to see the results with baby snails being formed on the glass and plastic!! He had done it right after a water change and a full moon that night.

Other updates:
Regular 100G water changes every 2 weeks.
No dip in parameters.
Got new cheato and water clearity at all time high!

Here is the link to the turbo snail video!

Enjoy!
