please diagnose and prognose this purple tang's fin

i just received my order in mail yesterday and top fin is not right. it is not healthy looking, and could be just rot that will regrow but i fear whether it is a symptom of HLLE... the white marking over eye area made me worry too..,

That does look like the start of hlle...best bet is to keep the water pristine, give good foods... I'd add vitamins such as selcon to help. The Fin rot I'd have to do some digging in notes as I haven't had to deal with it in a long time..

Looks like normal aggression and nipping by other fish. It will grow back.

The white above the eye and the white along the lateral line is definetly hlle, the fin should regrow. Assuming your tank water is pristine and you feed him well it should be reversable for now. Too bad they shipped it to you like that, i wouldnt be to happy, it definetly didnt occur over night. I would feed him as much as he will eat, keep him fed and slowly you should see improvement.

So i looked at information on zoecon and one says, it is kent version of selcon. is it right? as Selcon is part of my frozen cube recipe i feed everyday...

Selcon, Zoecon, Vitachem, etc. will all help with HLLE provided the root cause is nutritional/vitamin deficiency related. There are other possible causes of HLLE: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/hlle-head-lateral-line-erosion.259916/

Bought from the Michael's NY Aquatic. What a joke. He denies illness saying "he looks stressed, is he eating" suggesting my tank was the problem etc. I told him the pictures were taken the night i received them but he still refused his wrong practice and refund. I am sure this was why the price was way low form them to get rid of sick purple tangs they got. i paid more shipping than the fish. i lost a tang before and i was depressed for a while! Clowns and tangs are special to me somehow.
