I purchased an very large and healthy seabae anemone about a month and half ago, he planted himself and was very happy and eating for 3 weeks, I then purchased some clowns and all went wrong. He has been turning himself upside down and very deflated looking, he looks like he wants to get away from the clowns and now has his mouth wide open and has not closed it. He looks sick, deflated and cannot stick to a rock, only sand particles. Does anyone have any pointers or recommendations on how to save him please?

:ooh:

One idea.. Take a tupperware/plastic container large enough to cover the anemone. Drill it full of many holes... Many. This allows for flow, but keeps the clowns off.

This will let the anemone to recover. Meanwhile the clowns may have a chance to calm down? a bit. Apparently clowns can sometimes harm anemones. I figure it's not intentional on the clowns part. They prob love it to death (my guess).

Can you tell us a little more about the tank? I am interested in the lighting, tank size, tank age, other inhabitants (especially if there are any anemones in the tank), and water parameters. How big is the anemone? What type of clowns did you introduce? Are they being aggressive towards the anemone? I think the introduction of the clowns maybe coincidental with the downturn of the anemone. Would it be possible to post a pic?

What color is the anemone? Better yet, do you have a picture.
Is it an H. crispa or an H. malu? (( both are called "sebae" ))

The foot is fine, I always make sure check that, seen it many time, however the mouth is open and doesnt look good. I dont want it to die and I feel it will even with the tuperware idea. Im running a 90 gallon 2x 150w halides 2xt5s with moonlight LED,s . plenty of flow but hes in a nice shaded cove with very little flow. just not happy. The clowns are snowflakes -occularus

Trrex: sorry no clue

Im also getting rid of a rainbow eye hawk fish if you can catch him

I've seen it in person, it's an h.crispa. Greenish brown with purple tips, it's was in perfect health in the start of the month, haven't been to his house since New Years though so I'm not sure at this point. He usually take meticulous care with his tanks though, call me if you need some help bro

Good to know -- thanks.

Next question -- what lights was it under?
What lights is it under now?
Was any acclimation used?
